First Communion Cards

This year I have a niece and a nephew making their First Holy Communions.  I knew without a doubt that I wanted to use the card from the Full Of Grace set at SVG Attic for their cards.  It is gorgeous and meaningful, not to mention perfect for the occasion.
I want to show you the pink card first.  It happens to be my favorite of the two even though they are so similar.
Here is a closeup of the bottom part of the card where I wrapped embroidery floss around it, added a charm from the Christian Charms set.  I added glossy accents to the charm to make it more eye-catching.  The sentiment is one I printed from my computer and hand cut the banner.  Finally I added gold stickles dots on either side of the banner.
This is the blue card version.  The only difference is the shading on the background paper (The Luxury Stack by DCWV), the color of embroidery floss and the style of charm.
This charm is also from the Christian Charms set.  I just thought it was a little more masculine and when the set has that many to choose from, why not?
This is a close up of the chalice.  I embossed it with a damask embossing folder, rubbed versamark over the raised areas then used gold embossing powder on it.  Then I highlighted certain areas with a gold permanent marker.  I also used a lot of tan and brown chalk ink and some white gel pens to create dimension.
If you know anyone making their First Communion, I hope you will consider using these sets!  As you can see, it really makes a stunning card.

Have a wonderfully crafty day!

Birds and Their Houses Day 4

This is the last birdhouse that is included within the Home Tweet Home SVG set at SVG Attic.  I was fortunate enough to be able to work with the files they provided and take pictures of what I created.  Then the pictures I took were put on SVG Attic!  What an honor to see my work in their store :)

This one is a three story birdhouse.  Isn't it cute?  :)
The paper I used was Wild Saffron by K&Company.  I used a lot of brown chalk in to add dimension.  I embossed the kraft layers of the roof and threaded ribbon through the holes in the top.

I will be back on Thursday with the very last element from the Home Tweet Home kit.  You won't want to miss it!

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Birds and Their Houses Day 3

Hello all!  I am showcasing the lovely files within the Home Tweet Home SVG set from SVG Attic.  I was fortunate enough to be able to work with the files they provided and take pictures of what I created.  Then the pictures I took were put on SVG Attic!  What an honor to see my work in their store :)

The Tweet Home birdhouse card is what I am sharing with you today.
The paper I used was Wild Saffron by K&Company.  I used a lot of brown chalk in to add dimension.  I also added doodle dots on the bird and the word Home.  Instead of using the eye that is cut from the file, I opted to use one of my homemade enamel dots and I think it is the perfect touch!
The really great thing about this card is that it fits perfectly in a standard legal letter envelope, so there is no need to buy a special size to fit it.

I will be back soon to share the last two elements from the Home Tweet Home kit with you.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Birds and Their Houses Day 1

Hello all!  Over the next few days I will be showcasing the lovely files within the Home Tweet Home SVG set.  I was fortunate enough to be able to work with the files they provided and take pictures of what I created.  Then the pictures I took were put on SVG Attic!  What an honor to see my work in their store :)

The single story birdhouse is what I am sharing with you today.
The paper I used was Wild Saffron by K&Company.  I used a lot of brown chalk in to add dimension.  I embossed the kraft layers of the roof and threaded ribbon through the holes in the top.
This is a picture to show how it opens up.  It is essentially shaped like a milk carton and the roof lifts off to let it open.

I will be back soon with another element from the Home Tweet Home kit.
I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Rustic Carrot Centerpiece

Easter is going to be here soon!  I made this rustic centerpiece just in time for the occasion.  I used three sets of files from SVG Cuts.  The basket is from the Caramel Apple Pie kit.  I used my sewing machine to stitch a line on the two bands that go around the basket.
Here is a close up of the sign that I made.  It is from SVG Cuts' April Avenue collection.
And the carrots are from the Hippity Hoppity kit.  I embossed the carrots with different embossing folders and added trendy twine around the top.  I made them in different sizes and used different papers.  I also used brown chalk to ink around most of the die cuts.
I hope you have a beautiful Easter!

Easter Bunny Card

I needed to make one last Easter card and was wondering what I should make.  My fellow SVG Attic I-Team member, Allie Gower came to the rescue by inspiring me with THIS card of hers! What an awesome idea to use the face of the rabbit from the Hop To It set at SVG Attic.  So here is what I created!
I used trendy twine for the bow, 3 Girl JAM ribbon that I pleated at the bottom and more of my homemade enamel dots for embellishments.  I also used wire for the bunny's whiskers.  All of the die cuts were lightly inked with a tan chalk ink for extra dimension.  I think it all came together to make such an adorable little girl bunny :)
I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Easter Basket Cards

I finished up my Easter cards and wanted to share what I made with all of you!  I decided to make a cute Easter card that features SVG's from SVG Attic's Easter Elements kit.
Three of the eggs were cut at 2" tall and two were cut at 1.5" tall.  I embossed the solid color eggs with embossing folders and I inked around the edges with brown chalk.  For the grass, I sized them at 8" wide, then manually cut them in half, so I had enough grass for two cards from one grass cut.
The basket weave part was all cut with my paper trimmer.  I embossed the horizontal paper strips with a basket weave embossing folder and inked all those edged with tan chalk.  I used a stamp from Paper Sweeties for the sentiment and some of my homemade enamel dots (go to THIS post to find out how I made them).  I wrapped some ribbon around the top of the "basket", added a bow and the front was finished!
I also added some washi tape to the inside of the card to add just a little pop of color.
I made multiples of these cards, and here you can see the different ribbons that I used on them.
Guess what...SVG Attic has some amazing new files that have just been released too!  I just have to share them with you.  They are gorgeous and would be perfect for spring, Mother's Day or birthdays.  Here they are:

Flourished Cross Easter Card

I know that Easter is right around the corner.  For some reason, I haven't been in the card-making spirit very recently, but I know I need to make Easter cards for my family.  I decided to make a card using a technique that I have loved ever since seeing it online in many places, but haven't created it yet myself.  The sunburst/starburst technique.  I also try to make religious Easter cards to reflect the true meaning of Easter.

For my card, I decided to go with an understated elegant look.  I struggle with that sometimes since I love to embellish so much!  But for this card I didn't want to take away from the scene I created by adding too many embellishments.
The focal point of the card is a gorgeous flourished cross that is from SVG Attic.  As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for this card.  Plus the set of 3 flourished crosses is only $0.99, what an awesome deal!  I created a blackout shadow of it in my cutting software and cut them with the shadow being 3" tall.  For the sunburst background, I took random patterned papers in the yellow/orange/burgundy hues to mimic a sunrise.  If you are not familiar with how to make that, you can use THIS tutorial that I used.  To add to the background focal point, I hand cut a yellow semi-circle of cardstock to look like the sun.  I also inked the edges of my papers with brown chalk ink to add definition.
To finish it off, I added white rumpled ribbon, a stamped sentiment and three white enamel dots that I made myself out of mini pony beads.  I simply preheated my oven to 375 degrees, added parchment paper to a metal pan and placed the beads, hole facing up on the paper.  I baked them for 25 minutes and they turned out so perfect :)

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!
