Peony Gift Bag

Today I am sharing this beautiful gift bag that I made using files from SVG Attic.
The bag itself is made using the Motherly Moments set, I just omitted the front window from the SVG before cutting it so I had a solid front on the bag.  The peony is from Day At The Races and I admit that every time I make this flower, I am amazed.  It is so gorgeous!  For the leaves, I used the greenery from the box in the G is for Gratitude set.  I inked the edges of the petals and leaves with brown chalk ink to define them.
I added metallic sequins for a little bit of bling and finished it all off with a sentiment tag from My Craft Spot's Tiny Tags stamps and tied that to the bag with some Chocolate Truffle Trendy Twine!
This gift bag fit a necklace gift box inside just perfectly.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop 2014

Welcome to the OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop for 2014!
I created this card using OWH sketch #214.  It was perfect for the patriotic washi tape that I just got from Oriental Trading Co.  I wrapped some trendy twine around the embossed kraft layer and added stars in 1", .75" and .6" with thin foam tape.  This thin foam tape is the perfect depth for OWH cards!  The stamp is from Whimsy Stamps.
I hope you enjoy hopping with all the creative ladies in this blog hop!  Now head on back to the OWH Blog Hop home page to check out all of the other wonderful cards!

Have a wonderfully crafty day!

Decorating my Silhouette Cameo

So this is what I have been looking at while crafting ever since I got my Silhouette Cameo for Christmas.  You may say, what is wrong with that?  Nothing really, except I switched over from my Cricut Expression, which I had decorated with vinyl.  So I went from something pretty to something rather blah.  I don't do blah very well :)  Actually I am surprised I lasted this long without decorating it!  So...here goes a step-by-step tutorial on how I made my cameo from blah to beautiful!
The first thing I did was use the cutting file that is built in the free Silhouette software to make a cover for my control panel.  I used one of my all time favorite paper stacks, Black Currant by DCWV.  I was pretty proud at how centered I got the print to be :)  This paper was my inspiration for the rest of the machine.
After looking for *just* the right file to use for vinyl, I came across the Tulip Damask file from SVG Attic.  It was perfect!  I cut two of the single files at 4" tall out of black vinyl.  I used my exacto knife to cut the vinyl of both designs just below the circle at the bottom as shown in the picture below.
Next, discard the outer frame from one of the designs, or you can add it to some other crafty project :)
Mark the center of your Cameo lid at the top and bottom.  Mine was at 7.5" or 19cm.  This will help you center your design.  Using transfer tape, carefully lift just the frame of the first design, keeping the center of the design still on the backing paper.  Apply the frame to the center of your Cameo lid.
Next add the flourishes, one on each side, overlapping the circle on the edge of the frame with the circle on the end of the flourish.  I just eyeballed this part, if you want you could also measure the center point of the lid from top to bottom to make sure they are centered.  At this point I also added my monogram using the GoudyHandtooled BT font.  I layered dark pink and black vinyl so the colors would match the paper on the control panel.
Last, but definitely not least, add whatever other embellishments you wish!  I added all kinds of bling :)  Four different sizes to be exact!
Here is the finished project and yes, I am thrilled with it!  I just love it when something turns out exactly like you picture it in your mind.  I can't help but smile when I see it :)
I hope I've inspire you to decorate whatever "blank canvas" you have from blah into beautiful!  If you do decorate your cutting machine with this design or another one from our site, we would love for you to share a picture of it on the SVG Attic Facebook page!

Also, don't forget to participate in the Anything Goes Contest that is on the SVG Attic Blog!  The contest ends May 31.

Teacher Appreciation Gift

I know teacher appreciation week was last week, but I didn't get the pictures on the computer right away.  Rest assured that the gift was given last week :)
I wanted a way to dress up this lotion that I was giving my son's teacher.  The colors I used for this gift bag are a bit non-traditional for a teacher but they matched the lotion bottle, so that is what I went with.  The papers are from DCWV's Freshly Picked stack.
I embellished the topper with trendy twine embroidery floss and my homemade enamel dots.  The hands were my son's contribution to the project.  I traced his hands and he cut them out.
Here is a close up of the tag.  It was a free printable from here.

Sweet Baby Card

I made this card using the Animal Crackers paper pad by DCWV.  I used the sketch from DCWV's blog to make it.
I combined two different stamp sets to get the sentiment that I wanted LOL!
Here is a close-up of the strip of buttons, trendy twine and the epoxy sticker.
I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Graduation 2014 Card

This is a graduation card that I made using the Up For Grads files from SVG Attic.
Instead of making the card a shaped card like is included in the file, I simply added it to the front of a card base.  I added a lot of dimension with foam tape and the gold glitter paper really shines (DCWV's Glitzy Glitter).  I customized the colors to match the school's colors for a personal touch.
I used twine and wrapped it around the base several times for the finishing embellishment.

Masculine Birthday Cards

Hello everyone!  I am super excited to be a guest designer at 3 Girl JAM today!  They have a lot of fun ribbons and flair too.  Without further ado, here is the card that I created using their yummy Coffee Jute Twine.
I always seem to struggle with guy cards.  Sometimes it is best to keep things simple and let the paper and sentiment do the talking.  All the papers I used on these cards are from DCWV's Guy Stack.  I LOVE that stack.  It is perfectly masculine.  Here is a second card I made just using different paper combinations.

6th Birthday Scrapbook Layout

Here is one last scrapbook page that I am sharing for now.  This one was from when my oldest son had his 6th birthday, over a year ago.  I really need to take more time to scrapbook to get caught up!  I used DCWV's All About Me stack and it was perfect for what I had in mind!
The only die cut I had on this page what the number 6...I know, shocking, right LOL!  I normally have die cuts all over the place, but this paper already had a lot of wonderful embellishments on it, so I didn't need to add much more.
It is hard to see in the photo, but I cut the 6 out multiple times, glued them together and then added glossy accents on the top for a shiny finish.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Halloween Scrapbook Layout

Here is another layout that I wanted to share with you.  I know it is totally not Halloween season, but I thought it was too cute not to share!

The pumpkin on the left was a craft project that my oldest son made in school and I just had to save it :)  The right page is where I documented the Halloween costumes they wore.
Here is a close up of the extras that I added on the right page.  I used the Epiphany Crafts shape 14 tool to make an enamel embellishment of a spider and then I used brad by the title and also popped that up on foam tape.  The paper I used was from DCWV's Bewitched stack.
I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Spring Concert Scrapbook Page

I am so far behind with my scrapbooking it isn't even funny.  But since last Saturday was National Scrapbooking Day, I decided to forgo my usual card and 3-D creations and get caught up with a couple pages.

This one is very simple.  It is going in my oldest son's Kindergarten scrapbook.  All of the pages for his school year books are 8.5" x 11".
I created the sentiment using vinyl.  It is so simple to make thin cuts with vinyl since you don't have to worry about it tearing like paper, plus it is already sticky on the back!

Floral Grandma Card

Mother's Day is on Sunday and I made this special card for my husband's Grandma.  She is such a wonderful and giving lady!  I consider her my Grandma too :)
I used the Blooming Card Kit from SVG Attic to make this.  I made the flowers in the colors that she had for her wedding 57 years ago!  I inked all the edges of the die cuts with tan and brown chalk.  Plus I added dimension to the petaled flowers by gently bending the edges of the petals up.  You can see that better in the picture below.
I created the Grandma sentiment in my cutting software and finished the card off by adding brads to the sentiment banner and neutral colored sequins for a little shine.

Birds and Their Houses Day 5~3D Bird Box

I am so excited to announce that SVG Attic is having a contest on their blog HERE!  I want all of you to join in on all of the fun :)  It is an Anything Goes contest and here are a couple of the details...

• Create any type of project using at least one recognizable element from an SVGAttic.com file.
• You have until Midnight CST on May 31, 2014.

The prizes are:

First Place: $25 Gift Certificate to SVG Attic
Second Place: $15 Gift Certificate to SVG Attic
Third Place: $10 Gift Certificate to SVG Attic

This is the last project I made using the Home Tweet Home SVG set at SVG Attic.  I was fortunate enough to be able to work with the files they provided and take pictures of what I created.  Then the pictures I took were put on SVG Attic!  What an honor to see my work in their store!

The 3D Bird Box is what I am sharing with you today.  Isn't it so sweet?  My three boys love it and my youngest brother (who is 20) was very impressed as well :)
If you plan on making this box, I would highly recommend utilizing the tutorial HERE.
I used a lot of brown chalk in to add dimension and a blue enamel dot on each wing.

This is a picture to show how it opens up.
Here is a picture of the complete Home Tweet Home kit.
