Tool Bench Card

This is a card I made for my Father-in-law.  He is Mr. Fix It!  If you know someone who fits that description, it would also make a wonderful Father's Day card for them too.  I also wanted to demonstrate the versatility of ScrappyDew files.  About a week ago I showed you this card that I made using their Tool Box Bundle Package SVG files.  I really like how that one turned out with the detailing on the tools.  For this one, I decided to just use the silhouettes of the same tools to go for a completely different look.
I cut the tools out of black cardstock 2 times each and glued them on top of each other so they would be a bit thicker.  The background paper is from DCWV's Boyhood stack which is a 8.5x11" stack.
I created the workbench by using the Vintage collection paper by Core'dinations and embossed it with a woodgrain embossing folder, sanded it, then used brown chalk around the edges.  I added two brads that look like screws and tied two cotton twine pieces around it.  I popped it up with foam tape.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

One Sheet Wonder Cards

This past weekend was the Memorial Day blog hop for OWH, and what fabulous inspiration was to be found!!  As I hopped along to all of the beautiful cards, I stopped at Seongsook's blog where she had made templates for One Sheet Wonder (OSW) cards.  If you are like me, and hadn't heard of that before, it is a way to utilize every tiny inch of your patterned paper to make several cards out of it!  I knew I had to give it a try!  There is a link to her wonderful tutorial here if you are interested in trying it out too!

I made nine A2 cards out of one sheet of double sided patterned paper.  I used a sheet that came from DCWV's Summer Dream Stack.  The colors on this paper are very patriotic and I know that even though there are not flags or stars on them, any of the military families who will receive these will appreciate the patriotic color scheme. Since these are going to OWH, I did not use paper with glitter on it.  Here is the group shot of the 9 cards:
Here are pictures of the individual cards in case you want a closer look.  I added white satin ribbon, flowers that I cut from an SVG file I created, and a stamped sentiment that is covered with a 1" epoxy circle.

This is the one that I made with the left over 2" square of DP.  I almost think I like this one the best with the embossing LOL!  This one does not have the epoxy circle since I kept the sentiment square, but I used foam dimensionals under it to add more visual interest.

I hope this inspires you to try out the OSW technique and maybe even send some cards in to OWH!

Have a wonderfully crafty day!

Flip Flop Card

Yesterday was one of those days.  You know, the kind where it seems like everything that could go wrong does.  By the end of the day all I wanted to do was make something.  Crafting is my de-stressor and that is exactly what I did!

I used the beautiful flip flop SVG files from ScrappyDew's Vault.  If you are not a vault member of theirs, you are seriously missing out!  Once you purchase the membership, not only do you get access to a ton of designs they already have in there, they periodically add more designs and you get those for free.  PLUS there is a coupon code for vault members that lets your purchase their regular store designs for super cheap.  Can you tell I am a happy vault member?? LOL!  Here is a link that you can see some of the designs they have in their vault.  They have added more since!

Anyway, here is the card I created from the flip flops.  They cut like a charm on my Cricut!
I used water paper from a DCWV Photo Real stack for the top part of the background.  The flowers on the flip flops are some of the built in shapes in SCAL2.  Then I used the Round 14 Epiphany Crafts shape tool to add a little extra visual interest to the center of the flowers.
I created the sand using Core'dinations Vintage Collection cardstock.  I tore two layers, embossed it then sanded it to reveal the core kraft color.  The sentiment I printed off from my computer, layered it with a scalloped punch and popped it up on foam adhesive.

Some beach...Somewhere...  Actually just being able to play with my paper helped me a lot more than getting sunburned on some hot, sandy beach would have LOL!

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

ETA:  I am also entering this into the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger:
When I saw this picture I immediately thought of my flip flop card!  The bright colors, the paisley print and the subtle florals incorporated within the print...

OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop

Hello all and welcome to the 2013 Operation Write Home Memorial Day blog hop!
For my card I used sketch #128 from the OWH blog.  It was a card that came together very quickly and I really like the end result!

I used the Vintage Nation cardstock from the Paper Studio for my card.

I wanted to send out a huge thank you to all those in the military and their families for their service and dedication to our country!  We would not be the land of the free without the brave!

I hope you all have a wonderfully crafty day.

Tool Father's Day Card

Now that Mother's Day is past, it is time to start thinking about Father's Day! Not that I know what to get my husband or dad for the occasion, BUT I do know what cards they will be getting! That deserves a brownie point or two, doesn't it? LOL! I decided to use the wonderful SVG files from the Tool Box Bundle Package at ScrappyDew. There are loads of tools in this set, but I just picked two for this particular card.
The background paper was a perfect match and is from DCWV's Guy Stack. It doesn't show up on the picture, but all the little tools have a shiny epoxy finish to them. The vertical banner was plain cardstock that I embossed using a diamond plate cuttlebug folder and then inked it with black ink.
I also sent some of these to Operation Write Home for the troops to send back home to their dads. I hope they enjoy them as much as I did making them.
So if you have a little extra time this weekend, maybe see what you can create for the guys in your life!

Graduation Cards

It is graduation time again!  These cards were super quick but I still feel like they have a great message for the graduate.  I used a stamp from Hobby Lobby for the front.

The pink card was for the girls and the teal was for the guys.
The front panel is pop-dotted up for dimension and I thought the ribbon added the just right amount of an extra touch.

On the inside I simply stamped "Congratulations".  The printed paper was also from Hobby Lobby and it was from the Tattered and Worn paper pack.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Kite Card Take 2

After making the card from my previous post, I was determined to not waste the negative die cuts from the pieces I had cut.  So this card was created!  I went with a girl theme on this one.  I am not sure which one I prefer, but I am sure they will both be great to have on hand.
These cards make me smile.  There is nothing quite like getting to fly a kite out in the open sky...

Kite Card

Here is a quick and simple card I made today.  I was getting something out of a drawer and saw the cloud, kite and sun Sizzix dies that came with my big shot machine.  I have never used them and decided to give them a whirl!  I think they made a cute card out of lots of paper scraps, a few buttons, a tiny bow and a new stamp that came from Lesia at Mema's Crafts.  Thanks Lesia!
I really kept this simple.  The only extra shading I did was on the kite and I used some brown chalk for that.  I just love the free feeling of this card.  It makes me think of my boys flying a kite on a beautiful day, laughing uncontrollably...music to my ears!
I hope you enjoy this card!
Have a wonderfully crafty day!

Graduation Card and Gift Box

My oldest son just graduated from kindergarten!  What a fun experience for him!  He was so excited for it and was talking about it for weeks before hand.  To make it extra special for him, I made these projects and I am happy to say, he loved them both.

This diploma card was made using SVG files from the Graduation Trio set at My Scrap Chick.  I thought the whole design was so clever!
This just shows the dimension that I added to the different layers of the card.  I made an envelope for the card using the polka dot paper you see behind the card.
This graduation hat was from the Graduation Day SVG kit from SVGCuts.  I decided to make it with cardstock from DCWV's Grade School stack because I thought it encompassed the kindergarten theme very well.  I made the tassel following the instructions that SVGcuts showed in their video tutorial for this kit. It was easy peasy!
Here it is opened showing little goodies that were inside :)
I hope you enjoyed these projects!  I think they fit perfectly for the  Gift Packaging Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and for the Clearly iStamp Celebration Challenge.

Rose Gift Box

My dad asked me to help him get mom's Mother's Day gift this year and it is pretty awesome!  I can't believe what he picked out!  Anyway, I decided to make a gift box for him to give it to mom in.  I used files from SVG Attic's G is for Gratitude set and I made the box, but downsized it.  I also used the leaves from the box from that set.  For the rose I used the peony file from the Day at the Races set.  All the papers were from K & Company's Kelly Panacci collection.
A close up of the flower which I LOVE!
To show off the inside and the prints on the double sided paper.
I just love how it turned out!  I can't help smiling every time I see it :)  I hope mom likes it as much as I do!  This also fits perfectly for the Gift Packaging Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Have a wonderfully crafty day!

Wedding Card

These are the wedding cards that I am giving out this year.  I saw this video and fell in love with that style of card.  The only cut on this card that I cut with my cricut was the monogram.  I used a vinyl scrap for that and it worked amazing!  This is how it looks folded together.  Actually it wouldn't stay folded completely shut, but just imagine there being no gap between the two sides LOL!
This is how it opens to reveal the inside.
And a top view to show you the actual mechanics of how the card works.
This was made with paper from DCWV's Black Currant stack.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

VeggieTales Card

This past Monday, my three year old had minor eye surgery.  He came out of it better than I expected, thank God!  I think it was harder on my husband and I with the anticipation of it all.  Anyway, we made up a goodie bag for him since he was so brave and of course I had to make him a card to go with it!

My boys like to watch VeggieTales movies and I am glad they like them!  They have such great messages about faith in them and are so fun for the kids to watch.  One of their favorite songs to sing from the movies is "God is Bigger than the Boogie Man".  It talks about being brave because everything we might be scared of is always smaller than God and God is on our side so nothing stands a chance against us.  So that is the long version of why I went with this card theme for my son's surgery! LOL!
The cucumber and tomato (AKA Larry and Bob) were SVG's from the Vegetables set at ScrappyDew.  They were super fast and easy to assemble but turned out adorable!  I also embossed the cucumber with a striped embossing folder to make it look a little more like Larry :)
The background is random sized circles adhered to white cardstock, then embossed with a really neat polka dot The Paper Studio brand embossing folder.
I added pop dots behind both the square and the vegetables for maximum dimension.  The best part of that was my son tipping the card sideways and asking what the little squares were that were behind the paper!  LOL!

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Square Butterfly Card

This card is my last one for National Scrapbooking Day.  I am glad I was able to play with paper even though it wasn't actual scrapbooking.

Let me start off by saying that the pictures really don't do it justice.  The patterned paper I used was from DCWV's Mariposa stack.  It is full of gold.  Gold glitter, gold leafing, etc.  It really is a gorgeous stack.
The sentiment is from Clear Dollar Stamps and I think it fits the elegance of this card perfectly.

I hope you had a great day filled with lots of paper and glue :)
