Inseparable Brothers Layout

I scrapbook some, not a ton.  I find it hard to keep all the needed supplies organized while taking care of three little boys :)  I usually start with the pictures I want to put on a page, find paper that matches and let the design of the page just flow.  I add elements to match the theme of the pictures and papers so each and every page has its own feel to it and they are solely fashioned by me.  For this layout, however, I was very intrigued by a sketch I saw on the DCWV blog.  It had a lot of hexagons on it.  I am normally not into the chevron/hexagon craze that is going on right now in paper crafting, but for some reason, that sketch really was calling my name!  9 times out of 10, I make a double layout for my pages, so I continued the hexagon design for the second page.

A close of of page #1.  This was based on the original sketch that I saw.

And page #2.

Here are close-ups of the hexagons and embellishments that I used.  I did machine stitching, used metal accents and tiny buttons with embroidery floss.

All the paper I used was from DCWV's Stripes, Dots and Plaids stack.  I feel it really matched the color scheme of the pictures well.

I guess it just goes to show that we can all find inspiration everywhere we look.  I didn't think I'd be able to follow someone else's design for scrapbooking, but I did and I LOVE the way it turned out!

I am entering it in the hexagon/chevron layout challenge at The Pink Elephant.
Also entering it in the button layout challenge at Red Carpet Studio.
