Construction Hat and Dump Truck

Hello all!  Today I am sharing some construction related projects I made using products that I recently received from Oriental Trading Company.  Did you know that they had scrapbooking supplies?  And some very nice ones at that!

First up, I made a dump truck using SVG Attic's file from the Work Zone set.  All of the cardstock I used in this truck were from the Full Color Spectrum Paper Pack from Oriental Trading.  This cardstock is lighter weight but is still obviously sturdy enough to create 3D paper crafts with it.  It cut SO smooth with my Cameo!  The price is very reasonable too, all in all that paper pack is a must have for any crafter!
Guess what, the truck bed even lifts up :)  I inked around the window cuts and the details on the truck box with brown chalk to add visual interest.
Of course, what fun is it if your child can't dress the part too, so I made this hard hat from SVG Attic's Construction Party Kit.  The solid papers I used were from the same solid cardstock stack I mentioned above and the patterned paper is from Oriental Trading's Boyz Paper Kit...super cute!  It is double sided paper that is thinner than cardstock, but thicker than printer paper.  The best part is that it too cut perfectly with my Cameo, YAY!
Here is the hat and the truck together.
Finally, I decided to make a plain hat using the bonus hat SVG that is included in the construction hat file from the Construction Party Kit.  (It is the same piece as the construction hat except it is without the holes for adding the crest piece, so it can be made to look like a plain cap).  I used more of the paper and embellishments from the Boyz Paper Kit for this hat.
Here are the two hats side by side.  To assemble these, I used a lot of Double Sided Tape in 1/8" on the assembly tabs, some mini glue dots and Foam Tape to adhere the circles on the front with some dimension.  All three of these adhesives are wonderful products that I absolutely recommend for every crafter!  The Foam tape is thinner than regular foam dots, so it is perfect where you want a little, not a ton of dimension, especially for cards that will be mailed, etc.
FYI, if you cut the hats out in the size included in the file, it will fit the head of kids from ages 2-5.  You can resize the hat file larger if you want it to fit older kids.
Of course I couldn't help but include pictures of my 4.5 year old son modelling the hat :)
He really wanted me to make the truck to look like Chuck the dump truck, so I tried, and he really liked the end result.
I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

The review of these products is based strictly on my opinion. Others may have a different opinion or experience with the products listed above. I was provided the samples free of charge by Oriental Trading Co. and I provided my honest opinion. No other type of compensation was received for this review.
