Red, White, and Blue Thank You Card

I needed a thank you card for a guy recently and considering the time of year, I went with a red, white and blue color scheme.  I used DCWV's Industrial Chic stack which has a nice distressed look to the papers.  I stamped the sentiment for the front using brown ink to match the colors of the cardstock.  I used the basic shapes label from SCAL2 for the blue die cut layer.  To finish it off I added four brads and the brown ribbon.  The sentiment and the layers it is matted with are popped up with foam tape.

Patriotic Top Hat

Hello, I am back with another design team project for SVG Attic!  For this project I decided to go with a vintage Americana feel and made a patriotic top hat.  For the hat I used the mad hatter hat from the Mad Tea Party SVG kit.  Isn't it so fun?
To embellish the side, I made the star rosette from the Vintage Patriotic Cupcake Wrapper SVG collection and added some crinkled ribbon, burlap, a button and a couple sprays of decorative stars.

I used white and red crinkled ribbon to twist all around the base of the top hat to finish it off.
To give you an idea of the size of this hat cut out at the original file size, and to kick the cuteness up even more, here is a picture of my three year old playing with it :)  All of the papers I used for this hat are from the Vintage Nation stack by the Paper Studio.
This hat matches the current free gift at SVG Attic!  It is called Vintage Nation and is PERFECT for patriotic decorations.  To get this set free, add $9.98 to your cart, then add this set.  Use coupon code FREE at checkout and it will deduct the price of this set from your total!
BUT WAIT!  It gets even better!  This week SVG Attic is having a 35% off sale.  Every single SVG set has a reduced price plus you can get the free gift.  Pretty hard to resist, isn't it?  LOL!  If you make some crafty goodies with the SVG files you purchase, I would love to see them!

On  a side note, it appears as if Google reader will soon cease to exist on your blogger dashboard.  I have chosen Bloglovin my replacement reader and I hope that you will follow my blog with Bloglovin (button is on top right sidebar) especially if you are a current Google reader follower, so you wont miss anything from my blog.  Thanks to all who have chosen to follow my crafty posts :)

Baby Overalls Card

I am back with another design team project for ScrappyDew!  This cute little card is what I decided to make after going through my stash of cards and realizing I had NO baby boy cards on hand.  I always like to have cards ready for whatever occasion might sneak up on me, so now I am prepared :)  I used the super cute overall cutting design that is included in the Scrappy Babyz Collection that is only available in the ScrappyDew Vault.  If you are not familiar with their vault, it is a one time purchase and you get an amazing number of designs...plus more are periodically added and you get those too!  A great value for adorable SVG files.
To make the overalls look more baby like and to add a pop of color, I added a rubber duck from their Carnival Theme Park collection.  Isn't is so cute?!  The buttons and white thread added dimension and texture to the card.
This is to show you how I constructed the shape of the card base.  I simply welded two overall shapes together at the top of the straps.  I added a stamped sentiment and made faux stitching lines all around the card with a white gel pen.

Happy Birthday Fun House Card

Hi everyone!  Today I am being featured as a guest designer at My Sheri Crafts. So exciting! The theme for the new challenge there is Happy Birthday America! - Let's see some birthday cards!  So I made this summery birthday card for the occasion.
I used files from the Summer Street Carnival  SVG kit by SVGCuts.  Isn't it so fun?  This is a top view of the card when it is opened up.
This is how it looks when it is all folded up.
All of the paper is from DCWV's Dots, Stripes and Plaids stack.  Aren't the colors so fun!  They really make me think of carnivals and county fairs and all sorts of summertime fun!

Patriotic Card #2

This is a second patriotic card that I made for Operation Write Home.  I was inspired by this card on Pinterest.  All the patterned papers came from the Vintage Nation stack by the Paper Studio.  I love that paper stack!
The stars, circle and banner die cuts are all from the shapes built in to SCAL2.  I used light brown chalk on the banner and dark brown chalk around the kraft star to add visual interest.  The circular star stamp and the freedom stamp are from Clear Dollar Stamps.

The patriotic theme of this card makes me think of summer, the Fourth of July, BBQ's, and sitting outside in the heat watching fireworks!  We always get together with family and have picnics and go to the beach. The whole season is so refreshing.  I love summertime and am so glad it is finally here!

If you missed the patriotic card I posted yesterday, you can see it here.

Did you see the new SVG set at SVG Attic?  It is called Vintage Nation and it features the exact same paper stack I used on this card!!

Patriotic Card

This is a patriotic card that I recently made for Operation Write Home.  I originally saw this card on Pinterest, which led me to here where the sketch was originally from and OH. MY. GOODNESS.  Talk about amazing inspiration for this card style!  All the patterned papers are from the Paper Studio's Vintage Nation stack.  All the papers in that stack are gorgeous!  You will be seeing a lot more projects from me using it :)
I used a stamp from Clear Dollar Stamps for the sentiment and wrapped some red and blue floss around the white strip of paper.  It is hard to see in these pictures, but the white strip is embossed with a star embossing folder for added texture.  The star and circle die cuts were all made using the basic shapes in SCAL2.  I also added brown chalk around the star die cut.
The patriotic theme of this card makes me think of summer, the Fourth of July, BBQ's, and sitting outside in the heat watching fireworks!  We always get together with family and have picnics and go to the beach. The whole season is so refreshing.  I love summertime and am so glad it is finally here!

Ribbon Father's Day Card

With tomorrow being Father's Day, I decided to make one last card for the occasion.  This one is for my boys to give to my husband!  My oldest son picked out the design he wanted me to cut out :)

The SVG files for this card are from the Day At The Races collection at SVG Attic.
It was simple and straight forward to cut out and assemble.  In fact, it took longer to pick out the papers we wanted to use.  I decided on the Industrial Chic stack by DCWV which has a great vintage feel to it.
Instead of the horse head that was with this card file, I added a "#1" to make it work for Father's Day.
I fussy cut a tag out of the paper stack and used Beary Brown Rumpled Ribbon from Lovebug Creations to fasten it to the card.  The final touch was using my round 14 Epiphany Crafts shape tool and more of the DCWV designer paper to create the dad epoxy circles.

If you head on over to SVG Attic to buy this SVG set, the free set with purchase this week is All at Sea:

I also thought the colors and shapes of this card went well with the Vintage Vagabond theme this week at Moxie Fab World.  This was their photo inspiration:

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Anniversary Heart Box

Hello all!  I have some VERY exciting news to share with you.  I have been chosen to be on the SVG Attic design team!  I love the files that they have!  There are so many diverse themes that you are sure to find something that you can use.  I make a lot of cards, but I also LOVE creating 3D paper items as well.  It is so fun seeing the item take shape and the finished product is so rewarding.

For my first design team project, I made an anniversary heart box for my husband.  We recently celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary!   This box is a wonderful reminder of our wedding colors and flowers.
The base of the heart box was made using the Heart Shaped Box collection from SVG Attic.  I kept the box simple by using solid colored cardstock, then added a vellum trim from Erin's Scalloped Trims around the top edge.
Next is the part that I just adore...those roses on top!  Seriously, I think they are the most gorgeous paper roses I have seen!  I cut them using the rose file from the Be Mine collection using double sided K&Company paper.  A perfect match of my favorite flower with my favorite color :)  For the leaves on the roses I used the apple leaves from the Fall Harvest Favor Boxes kit. I used brown chalk around the leaf edges, then creased them down the middle to make them look more realistic.  For the final touch, I added some pearls that were on a wired strand for a subtle bling.
But wait...there is more!  I also decorated the inside of the lid!  I added a cream heart layer, stamped the Happy Anniversary sentiment, then added the rose and leaves.  An unexpected surprise when the box is opened :)  I just loved the end result and I think it would work beautifully for a wedding, bridal shower, anniversary, Valentine's day, birthday or even a just because gift.  There are so many possibilities for this box!
Ok...I just have to share one more picture of those amazing roses with you.  They have such a refreshing summer feel to them.  You know you like them too ;)
Now if you liked this box, you will want to go check out the SVG Attic blog.  This and so many other wonderful design team projects are there.  You are sure to find something that inspires your creative side!

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Sew Grateful Card

I have another ScrappyDew project for you all today.  I know a lot of crafts go hand-in-hand and for me sewing was one of my first crafting adventures.  If you fall into that category too, then you will appreciate the sewing nature of this card.

I used the adorable Sewing Palz SVG files for the pin cushion, needle and the spool of thread. I think they were a perfect match for the patchwork patterned paper.  I also carried the sewing theme with the ribbon that has stitching lines on it and I also used my sewing machine to sew the background papers together.  The sentiment is a digi stamp from Clearly Digi Stamps.
This is a close up of the focal point.  I thought the burlap behind the die cuts allowed for more of a solid color behind them, but still added texture and visual interest.
Here I am trying to show you the layers of dimension and textures.  I also added glossy accents to the needle and the pin heads.  There is a lot going on with this card LOL!
I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Graduation Layout

Hi everyone!  I am back with another ScrappyDew design team project.  I love the cuteness of their designs!  They are absolutely perfect for scrapbooking for my boys.  This is a double page layout with 8.5" x 11" papers.  It features cutting files from Graduation-2013.
This is the first page.  Look at all that kindergarten cuteness :)
I used the label that is from the SVG set to make the background for the title.  Then I made banners using the colors that were in the argyle paper and wrapped twine around it.

But there is a surprise...the top part of the label lifts up to reveal all of the kids' names!  I welded two of the label shapes at the top in SCAL2 to create that effect.
The second page shows close-ups of my proud graduate!  He was so excited!!
And finally a shot of the graduate boy from that set.  I used foam tape to pop him up and made confetti and streamers around him.  As for making the streamers and confetti...grab whatever scraps you have on your workspace, trim narrow strips, curl them and randomly add them to your layout.  For the confetti, find your paper puncher and empty it LOL!
I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Fishing Vest Gift Bag

This is just a project that I created to jazz up a very boring gift bag for my dad.  I don't like buying wrapping paper or gift bags at a high price, so I get them on sale and use my creativity to jazz them up.  For this gift bag I used the free fisherman's vest file  from SVGCuts.
I embossed different parts of the vest, used brown chalk around it and added real buttons to make it even more unique.  For the fishing pole I went out into my yard and found the perfectly curved stick :)  I added the twine, bobber and lure to finish it off.  The papers are from K&Company.
I really like how it turned out and I hope you do too!
