Happy Mail from ScrappyDew

I just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to Michelle, the Design Leader at ScrappyDew.  Last week she had a challenge through Facebook to create a ticket book with SVG's she designed.  I entered my Mario Bros. Book and I won this fabulous box of goodies!  It was such a mood lifter today after tons of cleaning, laundry, dishes, cooking, etc.  She has another challenge this week, in which she is giving away another box of goodies.  So don't waste any time!  Head on over to ScrappyDew's Facebook page and participate with the newest challenge that was posted on March 24th.

Here is what I received in my happy mail today :)
2 spools of ribbon, bakers twine, butterfly stickers, tiny bows, metal charms, adhesive doilies, 3D flower stickers, chipboard album pages, a dandelion embossing folder, and a 2 way glue pen.  Thanks again Michelle!

I hope you have a fabulous day!

Crucifix Easter Card

This is the Easter card that I decided to send to my family this year.  It is so fun for me to go over the top with cutesy elements while I am making cards.  In fact, that is what I LOVE to do.  However, I was very drawn to make a religious card this year for Easter.  One that encompasses the reason why we even have this holiday!  I also made some of these cards to send to OWH for the troops.  This amazing SVG file was free from (just scroll down on that page and you will see a picture of it.)  I thought the background paper worked perfectly for the whole theme and the three square brads at the bottom represent the nails that were in Jesus' hands and feet.

Just a peek at all the different layers that I cut with SCAL2 and my Cricut for this card...8 layers in all for this card, not counting the card base.
This is the sentiment that I printed for the inside of the cards.  I just love the meaning of it!

I hope you have a very blessed Easter season!

Maya Angelou Quote Tile

This was a special request from a friend of mine from high school.  It is on an 18" tile.  Yup.  It's big!  You definitely need a large place to put one of these.  I created the words in my SCAL2 program and the floral swirl in the bottom left corner is from SVGCuts. The words are in black vinyl and the flower is in a matte silver vinyl.  (I get most of my vinyl from H&H Sign Supply.)  The color of the silver is not accurate in this top photo since the flash reflected off of it.
A close up of the floral corner to show the true color of the silver vinyl.
I hope you enjoy it!

Easter Floral Card

This is just a simple Easter card that I made that showcases a lot of embossing.  The card base is embossed with a flower embossing folder and the flowers themselves are from a small embossing folder.  I just inked the paper after it was embossed to have the flowers show up better.  Add three little rhinestones and a ribbon and it was done!
I hope you have a wonderful day!

School Time Layout

I made this double page layout for my oldest son's Kindergarten scrapbook.  It is a regular 3 ring binder with page protectors in it to hold the layouts.  I figure it is a lot cheaper that way PLUS it will hold much more than a traditional scrapbook.

I used DCWV's dots, stripes, and plaids stack for all the patterned paper.
 Page #1
 Page #2
I thought the weaved ribbon mimicked the plaid nicely.
I used my Cricut with SCAL2 to create and cut the title.

Mario Bros. Book

I made this Mini ticket book pattern into a reward book for my two older boys.  They about flipped out when they saw what I was making.  Actually I tried hiding it from them and somehow they sniffed it out and you should have heard the barrage of questions and overall chatter after they found the pieces.  So much for trying to surprise them!  Oh well.  I guess they like it and that is what counts. The SVG for the ticket book was made by Michelle at ScrappyDew.  Here is a link to their Facebook page where you can find the SVG for free.  I sized the book at almost 6" wide x 3.75" tall.
I kept the embellishments to a minimum since it is for boys but really enjoyed the addition of the different colors of twine to hold it all together.
Yoshi is the first reward they will get. I will eventually fill all the little brick pockets on the inside pages with die cuts from the Scrapio Dew Brothers SVG set at Scrappy Dew.   He is cut at 4" tall.
This is a close up of the Mario Bros.!  They are cut pretty small, only around 3" so that makes for tiny pieces, and some of the smallest pieces I cut with vinyl so they wouldn't get lost and they would be self adhesive.  That's not called lazy, it is called being resourceful ;)

I hope you enjoy this book and if you decide to make one using ScrappyDew's pattern I am sure they would love to see it on their Facebook wall!

Have a wonderful day!

Black, Gray, and Pink Card

When I saw the Runway Inspired Challenge ric#32 I knew exactly what paper to use...The Black Currant stack by DCWV!  That paper is SO amazing.  I have used a lot of it up. Without further ado, here is the card.
I followed this sketch from PageMaps.

Here is a close up of all the bling I added along with the round 14 epoxy by Epiphany Crafts I used with the designer paper to make the embellishment inside the flower.

This card was very different for me to make since it has no image, either stamped or cut out, but I really liked it when it was all finished.  I hope you do too!

Bunny Easter Card

I decided this year that I would make cards every month for an organization called Operation Write Home.  I send in handmade cards that are blank inside to them and they in turn divide them out and send them to our military troop so they can write home to their loved ones.  Here is one style of the Easter cards that I sent to them.
This bunny face is so stinkin cute!  The SVG is from My Scrap Chick.  I used my Cricut Expression and SCAL2 to cut it out.
The stamped sentiment is from Punkin Patch Stamps.

I hope you enjoy this card :)

Easter Cupcakes

Today my oldest son had to bring snacks for his kindergarten class.  Upon asking him what he wanted to bring, he said cupcakes.  Of course!  What 6 year old wouldn't want cupcakes!  So being the nice mom that I am, I obliged and since it is only 2 weeks until Easter I decided to run with that theme.

Of course, I am NO professional baker, but I think they turned out pretty cute :)

A top view of the frosting...Yummy!
Some of the cupcakes ready to go to school...
I just thought they were cute so I had to add another group shot :)

Of course the bunnies are just the bunny marshmallows you can find this time of the year, the edible confetti was bunny confetti and the cake mix was Pillsbury Funfetti, all courtesy of Wal-Mart.  I made my own buttercream icing and tinted it a pale green.

And let me tell you, they are delish!

Have a wonderful day!

Shamrock Card

Well, St. Patrick's Day is only one week away and I am so ready for spring!  Too bad it is blizzarding today which ruined the plans we had made.  Oh well.  Sometimes it is best to just stay at home and relax!
I wanted to share a card I've made with you.  It is a cute shamrock card made from the Charm and Chance SVG kit at SVGCuts.

This is a shot of the card and the envelope that I made to match using my Martha Stewart Scoring Board.

I hope that you are have more favorable weather than we are at this time and have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!

Cupcake Lever Card

This is probably one of my favorite cards that I have made.  It is made with files from SVGCuts.  The paper I used was double sided cardstock, so it made the whole card very decorative.
It is so ME with all the various shades of pink and the glitter and the embellishments LOL!

This is a close up of the front elements.
This is a view of how the card opens up and the front panel swivels.
Here is the inside view when it is completely opened up!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Church Card

When I saw this church stamp set at Clear Dollar Stamps, I knew that it was for me!  It reminded me a lot of the church I went to while growing up.  That church has and always will have a special place in my heart.

The stamp stamped wonderfully and I also used the SVG that Clear Dollar Stamps sells that coordinates with this church stamp.

Here is a closeup of the stamp and different layers of the SVGs.

This shows how many layers I stamped with glue dots in between to get the dimension I wanted with the church.

And a close up of the windows...yes, they are shiny!  I added glossy accents to them for another added texture.

Card for Cancer Patient

Cancer is something that nobody likes to think about.  But the sad reality is that nearly one in two people will get some form of cancer in their lifetime.  I am a nurse (I work PRN) and have seen the effects cancer has on people, both the patient and the family and loved ones as well.  That struck close to home recently when my sister's Mother-in-law was diagnosed with an aggressive type of uterine cancer.  She is one of the most selfless people I know and always is going out of her way to help others.  So after offering many prayers for her, I decided to do a little something for her that might make her day a little brighter!  I decided to sent her a card every week or so as she goes through chemo and radiation just to let her know she is in our thoughts and prayers.

Here is the first card I decided to make for her.  The color for uterine cancer is peach.  I can't honestly remember EVER using that color in anything I've made, but luckily I did have some peach cardstock hiding in my stash :)  I figured the easiest color combo would be to pair it with black and white to make a simple yet elegant card that has a deep meaning.

These fabulous stamps I just bought from Clear Dollar Stamps and I cannot believe how clear they stamped even at such a small font!  There are several other words and verses with this set and I plan on using them a lot more. This color combo fits the black, white and one other color scheme of the latest Clear Dollar Stamps Blog Challenge.

A close up of the peach ribbon...

So if you have a spare minute, please offer up a prayer for her or someone you may know who is suffering with an illness.

Inseparable Brothers Layout

I scrapbook some, not a ton.  I find it hard to keep all the needed supplies organized while taking care of three little boys :)  I usually start with the pictures I want to put on a page, find paper that matches and let the design of the page just flow.  I add elements to match the theme of the pictures and papers so each and every page has its own feel to it and they are solely fashioned by me.  For this layout, however, I was very intrigued by a sketch I saw on the DCWV blog.  It had a lot of hexagons on it.  I am normally not into the chevron/hexagon craze that is going on right now in paper crafting, but for some reason, that sketch really was calling my name!  9 times out of 10, I make a double layout for my pages, so I continued the hexagon design for the second page.

A close of of page #1.  This was based on the original sketch that I saw.

And page #2.

Here are close-ups of the hexagons and embellishments that I used.  I did machine stitching, used metal accents and tiny buttons with embroidery floss.

All the paper I used was from DCWV's Stripes, Dots and Plaids stack.  I feel it really matched the color scheme of the pictures well.

I guess it just goes to show that we can all find inspiration everywhere we look.  I didn't think I'd be able to follow someone else's design for scrapbooking, but I did and I LOVE the way it turned out!
