First Haircut Layout

This is another guest design team project for ScrappyDew.  I was inspired to use the files from the First Haircut SVG set on this layout since I just recently gave my youngest his first haircut!  He looks so much bigger and older now that his hair is all trimmed up :)
This is the title that is included in the files of that kit.  I think it is the perfect addition to the page!  I used pop-dots under it for dimension.
And finally a close-up of the boy and the hairdresser/mom that I added to the page.  I created the glasses to the mom so it would look more like me :)  I made them by welding simple shapes together in SCAL2.
This layout isn't overly busy or embellished to the max, which I tend to do sometimes, but I think in it's simplicity it documents this sweet moment just right.
I hope you enjoy it!

Butterfly Card

This card was spurred by me purchasing the Mariposa paper stack by DCWV.  The day it came in the mail I had to make something with it!  I bought it from DCWV Deals.  They have wonderful pricing there PLUS they recently had a 30% off coupon code.  Yeah.  HAD to get more paper!  Anyway, here is the card.  It is a bit outside of my normal range of color combinations with the black behind the banners, but I really like how it turned out!  I used a sketch from DCWV's Blog.
The butterfly and the doily are sweet accents from this prize package from Michelle, the DT leader at ScrappyDew.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Teacher's Treat Jar

This treat jar is for my son's kindergarten teacher as an end of the year gift.  I up-cycled a pint canning jar from my storage room that was begging to be used for something crafty :)  I used pattern paper from DCWV's dots stripes and plaids stack.  The colors are so fresh and springy!  The tag on the front I used a Stampin' Up stamp.  The bottlecap is an embellishment from the Paper Studio and the Kraft colored circle inside with the Kiss on it is covered with a round 1" epoxy.  I think you will be seeing those epoxy's a lot in my crafting from now on :)  I also added gray, black, blue and green twine to hold the tags on.
This is what the top looks like.  The polka dot paper is 2", the scalloped circle is 1.75" and the white circle is 1.25".  The tiny Hershey's kiss is sized at 0.5" and is from the Land of Candy SVG set from ScrappyDew.

This is a view of both the top of the jar and the front so you get the whole idea...
Here is the jar with the card that I made to match that is also using SVG files from the Land of Candy SVG set.  If you are interested in the blog post for the card, you can check it out here.
I hope you enjoy this project.  Have a wonderfully crafty day!

Hershey's Kiss Card

Hello all!  I am back with another project for ScrappyDew.  As soon as I saw the Land of Candy set I fell in love with it!  My two older boys love to play Candy Land and this set matches it perfectly.  For this project I needed something a bit different.  I made a end of the year thank you gift for my son's kindergarten teacher.  I really don't know how she handles all 24 kids in his class, but she does!  I think anyone who has that many 5 and 6 year olds in their care deserves a little chocolate :)  Or a lot depending on the day.  So I used the adorable boy holding the chocolate candy from the Land of Candy set and made it into a card!  Then I doctored up a pint canning jar to coordinate and filled it with Hershey's kisses and hugs.
Here is the card that I made.  I tried to make the little boy look like my son.
The Hershey's kiss in the boy's hands is super shiny.  I coated it with 2 layers of glossy accents to give it a little something extra.
A close up of the details...dimension, dimension!  I tried a new technique of folding paper to make it look like pleated ribbon and made it into a border between the two designer papers.  The sentiment was a rub-on and I used a 1" punch and added an epoxy circle to the top.  The little boy is on pop dots as well to accommodate for the extra height of the pleated cardstock.
All the patterned papers were from DCWV's dots, stripes, and plaids stack.  I love that the colors are so bright and springy because we could use a little spring here...there is still snow on the ground!

Come back soon for a detailed look at the candy jar that I made to match!  To see the post with the jar, click here.
Have a wonderful day!

Daisy Mother's Day Card

I am back with another Mother's Day card.  It is from the same sketch as the previous 2 mother's day cards that I posted earlier, sketch #123 from Operation Write Home.  I made some of this style to send to the troops.
The flower is one that I made myself by tracing flowers that I thought would look nice together in SCAL2.
I hope you enjoy this card as much as I liked making it!

Reading Layout

This is another project for the ScrappyDew guest design team.  My oldest son loves to read.  It is one of his favorite things to do.  In fact, he has even been known to read the phone book LOL!  Not that there is any shortage of books to read in our house, it is just that he likes to explore different reading options :)  He is in Kindergarten and they just finished the BOOK-IT reading program.  If he met his reading goal of 15 books per month, then he would be awarded a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.  Talk about a no brainer for him...getting rewarded for reading with pizza!  How much better can it get?

These pages are 8.5"x11".  I have a 2" three ring binder that I am using for his scrapbook for this school year and I just use plain page protectors that you can find anywhere to slide the pages into.  Much cheaper than traditional scrapbooking if you buy all the supplies at back to school time when everything is crazy cheap.  Plus I can fit a lot of pages in his album then.
For page #1, this is what I came up with.  The title came from the Reading Time SVG set from ScrappyDew.  The pamphlet in the center was where they put the stickers they receive every time they get a pizza.  It folds out and I had to use a paperclip to keep it closed.  The pictures on the bottom of the page are of three books that he likes according to the inside of the pamphlet.
Here is the pamphlet all opened up.  There is more journaling and reward stickers on the back of it as well.
Page 2 is a bit less busy!  I created the I heart books caption in SCAL2.
And a close-up of the oh-so-sweet reading boy that is also cut out from the Reading Time files from ScrappyDew.  I think he looks so much like my son!
The background paper is from the Grade School stack by DCWV.  I love every sheet of paper in that stack!

I hope you enjoyed my layout and if you did and want to make one of your own, head on over to ScrappyDew and check out their files.  They have so many cute ones you will have a hard time picking just one set to buy.  But that is just fine because they have an awesome sale going on now...80% off your purchase of $35 or more!  Enjoy!

Pansy Mother's Day Card

Here is another card that I based off of a sketch from Operation Write Homesketch #123.  I really have gone crazy with this sketch.  Sometimes you just find one that really fits your style and this is one of those for me!  I sent these off to OWH last month for the troops to send to their loved ones.
The pansy is from the Happy Birthday To You SVG kit from SVGCuts.  That kit has so many amazing features!
All the papers are by K&Company.

I hope you have a wonderful and crafty weekend!

Rose Mother's Day Cards

I bought a 6x6 paper pad on clearance from Hobby Lobby after Valentine's Day this year. It is called Love You by the Paper Studio.  I had never bought paper that size before, but many cardmakers were saying how they love that size and they make a goal to use up the entire pad of paper and see how many cards they get out of it.  If you are interested, you can see an article about it here. Well, some of the prints in the stack are definitely love themed, but others are more general.  I didn't want to wait to start using it, so I made some mother's day cards using it.

This first one I based off of a sketch from Operation Write Home, after all, that is what I was making the cards for.  They have so many helpful sketches to utilize and this one was sketch #123.
The beautiful rose that is on these cards is from My Scrap Chick.  I did not use all the layers on it since OWH prefers to keep the overall depth of a card as minimal as possible, but I think it still turned out lovely!
Here is the second style that I made using the scraps from the previous cards.  Same paper and flower, different layout.
And a closeup of the rose...
This is a picture of the first 6 cards I made from this paper pack.  I will keep you updated on more cards that I make with it!

Have a wonderful day!

Embroidered Sweatshirts

These were a project that my oldest sister dreamed up for me to do.  She gets these IDEAS and, well, lets just say the ideas are sometimes a bit of a stretch for me to feel comfortable with.  I guess they challenge me in a good way so I don't get too set in my ways of crafting. LOL!  I am going to open this post with the one that I think is the most fabulous because I just can't make it wait!  It was quite the undertaking.  A total of 5, yes 5 hoopings for this sweatshirt.  Four on the back and one on the front.  Oh yeah, and when she was giving me this sweatshirt she stated that she had to order it over the internet from somewhere foreign since she couldn't find the right color and cut anywhere else....NO PRESSURE!  The design on the back is quite huge.  It basically covers the whole back of the sweatshirt starting below the hood.  Thank goodness it turned out well!  So without further ado, here is the back of sweatshirt #1:

And the front:

The rhinestone paws were just ironed on, no embroidery work there :)  They were the Tulip brand.
The scrollwork embroidery design was one she hand-picked from Embroitique and it is called the Felisa Frame.  Pretty awesome if I do say so myself :)

Ok.  Now on to the other sweatshirts.  This next one only took 3 hoopings, yeah only three.  (BTW Cathy, if you are reading this, it may not sound like it, but I really do love you :) ) I appliqued the tiger stripe fabric with the letters that I created in my embroidery software.  I think the white outline made a nice contrast between the black sweatshirt and the  print fabric.  The pawprint on the hood was a freebie from Five Star Fonts Embroidery.

Now last, but not least in my book since this one I only had to hoop once...LOL...the LOOMIX sweatshirt. It is hunter orange with the camouflage fabric appliqued inside the letters.  The design is about 9" wide across the chest of the sweatshirt.  It is the name of my brother-in-law's business.  Actually this one was my niece's favorite *sigh* I really tried to convince her to like #1 the most but no luck.  Oh well.  I guess I am very happy with all three and she was too.

I hope you all have a crafty day!

Thomas the Train Card

I am so excited that I was chosen to be a Guest Designer for ScrappyDew!  It really is an honor for my projects to be considered good enough for being on a design team :)  Michelle, the design team leader has been so very patient and helpful with me since I am new to all of this.  If you have a spare time, check out her blog at http://www.michellemybellecreations.com/.  You'll be glad you did!

Now on to my project...
I decided to make a Thomas the Train birthday card to give to one of my nephews.  After all, what little boy doesn't love trains??  I used the new Choo Choo SVG's from ScrappyDew.  They are so adorable!  I cut the files small enough to fit on a A2 size card.  Here is how it turned out:

A close up of Thomas
and of the railroad crossing sign.

For the sky I used a piece of paper from K&Company. For the grass I simply used a decorative scissors and cut two different layers of green cardstock.  Oh, and by the way, ScrappyDew is having an amazing sale right now on their SVG's...80% off a purchase of $35 or more!

I really hope you enjoyed the card and maybe even inspired you to create one of your own!
Happy Crafting!

Film Strip Layout #2

This is the second scrapbook page using the filmstrip theme that I made for my youngest son's ultrasound pictures.  The SVG files are from the Summer Blockbuster SVG kit by SVGCuts.  The paper I used is from DCWV's Black Currant Stack which I have had in my paper stash for about a year and I have used a ton of the papers from it!

Film Strip Layout #1

I really loved this idea for the scrapbook pages for my youngest son's ultrasound pictures.  The SVG files are from the Summer Blockbuster SVG kit by SVGCuts.  I only used flat elemnts for these pages, but that kit is chocked full of cut 3D projects too!  The paper I used is from DCWV's Black Currant Stack (This is a fabulous stack I have had in my stash and LOVE it).

Scrapbook Page

This is the beginning page for the scrapbook I am making my Mother-In-Law.  It is her birthday today and I was able to get the pictures from Easter of all the grandkids in layouts for her gift.  The only problem is that I almost always do double page layouts, so the first page in the scrapbook was blank.  So this is what I came up with to fill it!  The album itself is a beautiful brown with two butterflies in the teal/aqua families on the front, so I thought this matched quite well.  The scalloped mat is from My Scrap Chick, label #7.  All the paper is from DCWV's Industrial Chic Stack.  I really like the way the writing lines add visual interest as stripes on the paper.  It is such a unique stack!

A close up of the elements I included at the bottom of the page.  The numbers were just cut out from one of the pages of paper and pop-dotted for added dimension.

The buttons are just random ones from a package I bought from Hobby Lobby and the one on the left is actually a "button" from one of the pages of paper that I used my round 14 Epiphany Crafts Shape Tool with to make it look like a real button.

I hope you enjoy it and thanks for stopping by!
